Prof. Fiona Mathewsfiona@ecologysearches.co.uk
Fiona led the National Bats and Wind Turbines Project that pioneered the protocols for assessing bat casualty risks at wind farms, including the use of search dogs and the first deployment of SM2 static detectors in the UK.
She has been a licensed bat worker for 25 years, is a member of Natural England’s Bat Expert Panel, and contributes to several Eurobats Scientific Advisory Working Groups (wind turbines, infrastructure, lighting, climate change).
She founded the free Ecobat
web tool – hosted by the Mammal Society – which helps improve the interpretation of bat survey data.
